Glial Cells
Glial cells occupy a pivotal role as contributors and modulatory factors in the functioning processes of the central nervous system (CNS). Glial cells of the central nervous system (CNS) participate actively in important processes such synapse growth and refinement, axonal myelination, immuno-modulation, metabolite provisioning, and waste material cleaning through their dynamic interactions with neurons. Astrocytes, microglia, oligodendrocytes, and ependymal cells are the main glial cell types in the central nervous system. All these cell types fulfill specific functions, which provide the best possible functioning of the central nervous system. The primary glial cell types and their many functions are described in Creative Biolabs, along with information on the possible therapeutic uses of glial cells in illness.
