Can Vilitra 40 Be Used By Men With Liver Problems?

Vilitra 40 (which contains vardenafil) is an erectile-dysfunction medication that works by improving blood flow to the penis. While it is effective for many men, those with liver problems must use it with caution.

Vardenafil is processed in the liver. When the liver is not functioning normally—whether due to conditions like hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty-liver disease, or elevated liver enzymes—the body may break down the drug more slowly. This can cause the medication to stay in the system longer and increase the risk of side effects such as low blood pressure, dizziness, vision changes, and prolonged erections.

Most guidelines indicate that:

Mild to moderate liver impairment (Child-Pugh A or B): Vilitra 40 mg can sometimes be used, but only at a lower starting dose and under direct medical supervision.

Severe liver disease (Child-Pugh C): Vardenafil is usually not recommended, because the risks outweigh the benefits.

Men taking medications that affect liver enzymes (such as certain antifungals, antibiotics, anticonvulsants, or HIV medications) may also need dose adjustments.

If you have any liver condition, do not take Vilitra 40 on your own. A healthcare provider should evaluate your liver function, review all your medications, and determine whether a safer dose—or an alternative treatment—is more appropriate.
