Can Vilitra Cause Chest Pain Or Heart Palpitations?
Vilitra, which contains vardenafil, is a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction. While generally well tolerated, it can cause cardiovascular-related side effects in some individuals, including chest pain or heart palpitations. These effects are not common, but they are clinically important and require attention.
Vardenafil works by relaxing blood vessels and increasing blood flow, which can occasionally lead to changes in blood pressure or heart rate. Chest pain may occur if blood pressure drops too low or if the heart is under stress, especially in individuals with pre-existing heart disease. Heart palpitations, such as a rapid or irregular heartbeat, may result from the drug’s impact on vascular tone or its interaction with other medications.
The risk of these symptoms increases if Vilitra is taken with nitrate medications, alpha-blockers, or substances that affect heart rhythm. Individuals with cardiovascular conditions—such as recent heart attack, arrhythmias, or uncontrolled hypertension—should use Vilitra only under medical supervision.
If chest pain, severe dizziness, fainting, or persistent palpitations occur after taking Vilitra, immediate medical attention is essential. Always consult a healthcare provider before starting Vilitra to ensure it is safe based on your health history and current medications.
